Photograph Jewelry with Your Phone Like a Pro with the Phone Light Cone

We teamed up with commercial photographer Karl Taylor who created the Light Cone – a product line for photographers who need help photographing reflective items.

The Phone Light Cone is an accessible and budget-friendly option for photographers who might not have access to professional equipment. It provides a straightforward way to achieve impressive results, making it ideal for e-commerce retailers looking to enhance their online store with striking images. This desktop lighting solution, when paired with basic lighting setups, allows for sharp and vibrant photos of items like rings, necklaces, and other small products.

Features of the Phone Cone:

  • 360 DIFFUSION

  • REMOVES REFLECTIONS

  • PERFECT GRADATION LIGHTING

  • FULLY COLLAPSIBLE DESIGN

  • EASY SNAP BUTTONS

  • HEAT RESISTANT

  • PROPRIETARY DIFFUSION MATERIAL

  • FOR USE WITH PHONE CAMERA

Use Any Light Source

From desk lamps to actual speedlights, it doesn't matter what you use because once the light goes through the cone, it softens up and spreads evenly and beautifully onto your subject.

Position your item beneath the cone and adjust its height and placement to suit your needs. Experiment with different lighting positions until the object appears at its best. The cone’s opening lets you view the setup and make fine-tuned adjustments before capturing the final shot.

Once satisfied with the setup, place your smartphone’s lens over the top opening of the Phone Cone. You can change the settings in your camera app to adjust exposure, focus, and color balance, ensuring that every detail is captured accurately. For even more precision, smartphones with telephoto lenses can provide excellent close-ups of intricate jewelry designs.

Tips for Optimal Results:

  • If shooting indoors, minimize natural daylight by closing window curtains to maintain a neutral color balance.
  • While a white background works well for e-commerce, experimenting with different backgrounds and textures like wood, slate, or colored boards can add a unique touch to your photos.
