UNBOXING
Unlike most V-Flats of the past, our V-Flats fold to a portable size for easy transport (40” x 40” x 2”) and can even fit in compact cars—We know, we’ve tried. Weighing in at 7 lbs, every purchase includes a poly-cotton carry tote for even greater portability and protection. Opened to full capacity, the V-Flat measures 80” x 80” with a 0.5” depth. Because of its size, you won’t run into any indoor issues with low ceilings.
White on one side, black on the other, this isn’t just a sheet of half inch foam core. It’s a multi-purpose tool that reflects, subtracts, and blocks light. It’s also a highly effective tool for flagging light while blowing out white backdrops. When it’s not working as a light modifier, it switches gears to become a set element, acting as a backdrop, a portable privacy room, and a muscle-powered wind machine.

It’s a great product as far as helping with lighting. It’s very hard to travel with and gets damaged very very easily. It’s basically foam core. The way they are put together is very smart!

Great - quality product and packaging. I just found it a bit too sensitive. It's already damaged in a few places after the first use. In a gentle studio environment it would work great, but on a set in a random place, and while carrying it in and out of tight car spaces, it might be a problem.

I believe for the cost the materials could be a lot better.
They’re fragile and are not able to withstand a lot of use. The materials are nothing less than vinyl siding backer board with a layer of white and black paint. The seams, corners, and the overall construction resembles that of a guy in his garage without any idea of quality materials trying to build something easily sold online.
As for fill, they do a nice job, but for the travel I do and the level of quality materials and gear required…they fall way short

I've read many photographers' praise of the V-flats, and seen many videos, which is what sold me, and which I totally agree with. Here's one more benefit I haven't seen anyone mention, in addition to all the rest: V-flats free up your C-stands and light stands, as well as make it quick and easy to swap out your backdrop for a simple black or white one. If you only have 3 C-stands like I do, and one backdrop stand, this makes your other gear available for other uses.

One had some slight damage on the corners from shipping and VFlat world customer service was absolutely great to deal with. Frustratingly, FedEx does not put the same value in them. It arrived late and pretty beat up with a puncture and numerous dings.

These are very useful tools in my studio. I wish they were a full 8 feet tall, but the shorter height does make it portable, which is a plus. I didn't compare the price of buying two 4x8 gator boards and cutting them myself to create a v-flat. This is a product that anyone could make, but its nice to have it done for you and I do like the carrying bag. I wish they added some type of strip or footing, both to protect the bottom edge and to make it easier to slide on floors or carpet. The smaller tabletop products can easily be made from foam core that you can buy from Staples.

This didn't meet the quality I expected for the product. I honestly do not think it is worth the price.
1. It's seems like a set of foam board 3-4 times the thickness of a foam board you would use for a science fair project in grade school with a super duty tap and one end and velcro strips between two square for easy folding.
2. The foam dings easily, so you have to be careful with it in transport. While in use, my board was accidently bumped and fell over hitting a wall that gave it a ding and a mark.
3. The board isn't as seamless as pictured on the product page. You can clearly see a gap on the end of the velcro holds and the tape is visible on both sides

I want to update the review I left a week ago. I received defective Vflat sets in July of 2021 but never contacted customer service as I destroyed shipping boxes, and I thought I couldn't return them anymore. Six months later, I left a review about my experience with the boards.
They immediately contacted me, and even a CEO of the company found time to send me a message, and I received my new boards three days later.

We were just trying them out upon receiving them and so far they have met and or exceeded my expectations. They are easy to setup and store, they seem sturdy yet light weight. Of course some normal wear and tear are expected, however, if cared for properly, these will likely last me a lifetime. V Flat World was quick to respond and after sending them proof of the damage, they did not hesitate to mail me a new one. I have only used it once so far, but was even more useful than I imagine. I love educational videos too, they show the many ways to use the v-flats.

When I got the product (2 V-flats) I LOVED it. I just wish I could send you a picture of the subjects that posed for me. It is a must-have in your arsenal of light management. I also love that it fits in my car. I had a DYI version of this project it works, but these are so much easier to maneuver and the bag is wonderful to carry. I ordered a set of 2 V-flats recently and when they arrived they were damaged in delivery. I told V-flat world and they replaced them immediately . Now I'm bringing them on every shoot I have. One a recent editorial shoot I used one to flag off light, as a reflector, and as a backdrop. I would've left a positive review regardless but the excellent customer makes it even easier to recommend.

They do the job exactly as described. Super easy to set up and break down. Not so thick that they'd be cumbersome to quickly adjust during a shoot and not so thin where you can't move them quickly for fear of wrecking them.

When I purchased the set of v-flats I thought they would be made of strong material, but when I received them I realized that the are made of simple foam board with gaffers tape. For spending nearly $400 dollars I though they would be much stronger. Also, one of the v-flats arrived with a large gash. A little disappointed to be honest.

I have not had the set for a very long time but I have already found numerous uses for them, besides adding and subtracting light. I have also used the black side behind a sliding barn door setup to make the far side of the barn door opening look like a dark room, and keep finding new ways to use them. Have elimated some folding screens I used to use to hide other shooting areas and use the vflats instead. All and all, couldn't be happier with the purchase!

Look, I get it. You can make these yourself for a less if you are so inclined. But if you are like me, live in an apartment and really don't want to spend the weekend putting one together and then having to spray paint one side a nice flat back...these are a Godsend.

I knew that V flats could be useful but held back for two reasons. The DIY build process seemed to have a lot of steps for someone who isn't very gifted in the craft department. And storage of large pieces of gator board posed a problem. Being able to get pre made flats which folded addressed both problems so I gave it a try.

I bought a pair of black/white V-Flats and I'm glad I did. I have used the white sides as reflectors to add a large, soft light source. I have used the black sides to increase contrast on my subjects. I have used them as large flags to control light contamination. I have used both the white and black sides as quick backgrounds for headshots. Folded, they fit nicely in my Toyota RAV4 and they come with a carrying bag that protects them, so I've been able to take them on location. And they store nicely behind my TV stand at home. My only complaint is the gap between the boards can be tricky to close when fully opened, but it's manageable.

Well I’m still getting used to it especially with the Velcro seams but I know I can fix most of that in post. I do have a damaged corner on my second one and I took a picture so I don’t know if you need me to send that to you

I want to update the review I left a week ago. I received defective Vflat sets in July of 2021 but never contacted customer service as I destroyed shipping boxes, and I thought I couldn't return them anymore. Six months later, I left a review about my experience with the boards.
They immediately contacted me, and even a CEO of the company found time to send me a message, and I received my new boards three days later.
I want to say that I have never seen such an exceptional level of customer service. You people really love what you do, and it's inspiring!!!

We were just trying them out upon receiving them and so far they have met and or exceeded my expectations. They are easy to setup and store, they seem sturdy yet light weight. Of course some normal wear and tear are expected, however, if cared for properly, these will likely last me a lifetime. Here's a simple jump shot using two v-flats as a background, two modifiers, and a couple of strobes.

I ordered a set of V Flats based on the reputation of this company. I received the set via FedEx within 2 days of when I placed the order. Unfortunately, one was damaged in transit. V Flat World was quick to respond and after sending them proof of the damage, they did not hesitate to mail me a new one. I was able to track the package and received the replacement V Flat in excellent condition. Although the boards are pricey, they are well constructed. I expect they will last. Shipping was quick and the packaging suitable for the rough and tough journey with the carrier with no damage ~ edges and corners are well protected. These are way more sturdy than the make-it-yourself version. Plus they have a cute carrying case (with a box that comes with images of female photographers- love!) and come shipped in sturdy well-packed shipping boxes.

Very convenient, but you have to be careful as it can get damaged. I am, however, super impressed with excellent customer service, and will continue to purchase their products in the future. I have only used it once so far, but was even more useful than I imagine. I love educational videos too, they show the many ways to use the v-flats.

When I got the product (2 V-flats) I LOVED it. I just wish I could send you a picture of the subjects that posed for me. It is a must-have in your arsenal of light management. I also love that it fits in my car. I had a DYI version of this project it works, but these are so much easier to maneuver and the bag is wonderful to carry. I can not say enough about this product!! 6 stars for me!

I ordered a set of 2 V-flats recently and when they arrived they were damaged in delivery. I told V-flat world and they replaced them immediately . Now I'm bringing them on every shoot I have. One a recent editorial shoot I used one to flag off light, as a reflector, and as a backdrop. I would've left a positive review regardless but the excellent customer makes it even easier to recommend.

They do the job exactly as described. Super easy to set up and break down. Not so thick that they'd be cumbersome to quickly adjust during a shoot and not so thin where you can't move them quickly for fear of wrecking them.

Purchased Vflat Foldables 2 pack and I couldnt be happier. Im finding great use for them in my indoor studio. They’re great to bounce light off of or create contrast. I like the cover with handles to store them or when I’m taking them with me when shooting at another location. They fit perfectly in my car.

I am an on-location portrait photographer. I used to carry those DIY large foam boards with me to my sessions. They would fill up a van size and so hard to carry around. When I saw V-flat it is a no brainer! I bought set of 2 immediately. They are folderable and easy to carry. Quality is excellent. I also love reading their articles on set-up tips. When I purchased the set of v-flats I thought they would be made of strong material, but when I received them I realized that the are made of simple foam board with gaffers tape. For spending nearly $400 dollars I though they would be much stronger. Also, one of the v-flats arrived with a large gash. A little disappointed to be honest.

Can't speak highly-enough about how versatile my v flats are (I have three of them now)! They fit in my car and work perfectly in my studio. I have not had the set for a very long time but I have already found numerous uses for them, besides adding and subtracting light. I have also used the black side behind a sliding barn door setup to make the far side of the barn door opening look like a dark room, and keep finding new ways to use them. Have elimated some folding screens I used to use to hide other shooting areas and use the vflats instead. All and all, couldn't be happier with the purchase!

Look, I get it. You can make these yourself for a less if you are so inclined. But if you are like me, live in an apartment and really don't want to spend the weekend putting one together and then having to spray paint one side a nice flat back...these are a Godsend.

Just got my V-Flat in the mail and it was perfect. I didn't realize how important it was to have a V-Flat less than 8 ft. tall, but the dimensions are perfect and it's way lighter than I thought it was going to be.

I knew that V flats could be useful but held back for two reasons. The DIY build process seemed to have a lot of steps for someone who isn't very gifted in the craft department. And storage of large pieces of gator board posed a problem. Being able to get pre made flats which folded addressed both problems so I gave it a try.

I bought a pair of black/white V-Flats and I'm glad I did. I have used the white sides as reflectors to add a large, soft light source. I have used the black sides to increase contrast on my subjects. I have used them as large flags to control light contamination. I have used both the white and black sides as quick backgrounds for headshots. Folded, they fit nicely in my Toyota RAV4 and they come with a carrying bag that protects them, so I've been able to take them on location. And they store nicely behind my TV stand at home. My only complaint is the gap between the boards can be tricky to close when fully opened, but it's manageable.
