The Light Cone - Large by V-Flat World is a collapsible, 360-degree diffusion modifier for photographing jewelry and other reflective products. Designed for tabletop photography that needs more working space, it helps replace distracting reflections from the surrounding room with a more controlled illuminated surface.
Control reflections on shiny products
Use the Light Cone around a small reflective subject, then light the diffusion material from outside. Adjust the light position and camera angle to shape highlights on jewelry, polished metal and other shiny objects. The cone assembles with snap closures and collapses for storage.

Which model should I choose?
The Large model has a wider 20-inch base and 18-inch height for more room around the subject. Its top camera opening measures 5 inches. Leave space around your subject for the camera view and lighting; the base diameter is not a guaranteed maximum product size.
Is the Light Cone a light source?
No. It diffuses light from an external source. The placement and size of that source affect the final highlights and shadows.
Will it eliminate every reflection?
Its purpose is to control unwanted reflections and shape smoother highlights. Results depend on the object's shape, lighting and camera position; reflective objects still need visible highlights to show their form.

This is a great tool for product photography with reflective surfaces, (and I'm sure non-reflective) easy and quick to set up and light. I originally purchased the Med. and returned it for a Large. The Large gave me way more flexibility, particularly when shooting in from the side.
I recommend this to anyone wanting to take great jewelry photos with ease.
It works great with my iPhone and has removed the glare from photos of my jewelry.

I was quite pleased while performing some test shots with the cone. You could notice the drastic improvements, turning the hard reflected glare into a soft, diffused reflection. The opening from the top is decent, and the diameter of the base is plenty for macro photography.
This was exactly what I needed to take quick in-the-fly photos of my one of a kind work before sending it out into the universe! Thanks!
Full disclosure, I won this product. I have also purchased one in the past. The light cones are a fantastic addition to my macro photography. By keeping the glare off of glass and jewelry, not to mention other shiny objects, my workflow has greatly improved. Nowhere near the editing like before receiving the light cone. I have also been known to unsnap the large light cone and use it as a flat diffuser. I just prop it against my duoboards to soften the light. I'm hoping Vflat will come up with a flat diffuser to fit with the duoboards soon.
I already own d he medium sized lightcone, and after using it, decided he are one was necessary addition, I haven't used the large yet, but will soon, in full confidence it will do exactly what the medium did, which is exactly what I need it for.

The light cones arrived in New Zealand this week un rapped and set them up Saturday set up very easy and tried some test shots just to get a feel for them happy with what i got but having all the back up videos to refer to is going to make things so much easier as i am photographing jewellery just ordered a light ring great product great support.

I don't typically write reviews but this is the BEST thing I ever purchased for my online photos!!! I no longer dread taking photos and they are all coming out so consistent-looking and great! I would recommend this product a hundred times over!

I have to say, I was skeptical a first, doubting that a single tool could solve so many illumination problems. Well, it does , and it does it so fast that you'll avoid to set up your typical still life setup for chrome objects because you can obtain 95% the result in 10% of the time, and if you have to do an e-commerce shooting with 100 products, you know how time consuming can be. Approved for sure!

I tried to DIY a light cone and the results were adequate BUT came with a huge headache. The one I made was flimsy, awkward, and impossible to store for my next project. The project I'd been hired to shoot required a fast turnaround and I simply didn't have time to order the real thing. The day after the project, I placed my order for the full Light Cone X Karl Taylor kit! Having 3 sizes to choose from for my next project, ensuring I will be able to handle anything my clients throw at me, is such as relief. The durability, flexibility, and storability are better than anything I could have come up with on my own.
Does what it’s supposed to do. Simple product with big results. When you compare a product pictures with this and without, it’s like night and day. I recommend.
As a very amateur photographer and not having much invested in lighting, this cone really works wonders for the lighting I do have. It has done an awesome job of being able to flatten out lighting without losing details. I just started taking pictures of my wife's new jewelry for her upstart and they have turned out so much better with the cone.
It saves tons of time and creates very smooth images.

The pictures I provided speak for themselves you clearly see a difference in the diffusion of light. Much softer shadows. Excellent product and the price is fairly affordable.

I had seen this before on Karl's class, but I thought it couldn't possibly make that much difference because I use diffusers. I finally bought one after trying to get pics of my high polish silver jewelry. Boy was I wrong! This is so amazing that I just bought the large! Worth every penny!

As a jewelry vendor, it has been so difficult to capture images accurately, even with conventional light boxes or other methods. The cone works perfectly to diffuse the light and helps me take accurate shots the first time around.
I have been a professional commercial product photographer for over 30 years. A colleague of mine brought the large version of the V-Flat Light Cone to my studio to try out on a recent project I was doing. I have had light tents, light cubes and I have built my own devices, but the V-Flat was simplicity at its finest. The light was seamless and shadowless on my chrome products and depending on where I placed my lights, I found I had a lot more control than with previous products. I wound up getting one for myself and have been using it for a lot of my tabletop work. I had an issue with one of the snaps, contacted V-Flat World and they replaced the cone and shipped it to my door within two days. Customer service to me is one of the most important things that I look for in a supplier and V-Flat World came through in record time.
Great product just wish it could adjust for an angle view
Very nice product. It sure makes life easier. But it would be better if it could adjust in an angle
what a difference this makes! These mirror finished knives are so hard to capture, but the cone makes it so much easier.... I just wish there was a bigger option available!
